Répliques: japonisme 2021, Group Exhibition,
Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France.
December 9, 2021 – January 8, 2022.
In theatrical terms, a réplique is at once an appropriation, an update, and a response.
Seven invited artists take part in this game of reply, offering their contemporary responses to masterpieces from the Japanese collections of the Beaux-Arts de Paris — adding new lines to the long-running narrative of Japonisme in which the School has played a central role.

In resonance with a selection of 24 Japanese prints and accordion books from the Tronquois collection of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Laury Denoyes, Morgane Ely, Alice Narcy, Adoka Niitsu, Mariia Silchenko, Lucile Soussan, and AlžbÄ›tka Wolfová each respond with a contemporary work.

Based on an idea by Clélia Zernik, professor at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, with Anne-Marie Garcia, curator and head of collections at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, and scenographers Rym Ferroukhi, Pétronille Mallié, and Soukaïna Jamai, with Alice Narcy, curator of the “Artistes & Métiers de l’exposition” program.
